Hiking & birdwatching
Follow a guided trail or ask for a birding-focused visit. Share your interests and preferred walking pace so we can discuss an appropriate route and guiding arrangement.
Cross the canopy, follow a forest trail or pause beside a waterfall. Plan a Nyungwe National Park tour from Kigali with Nexus Tours and Travels, with private transport and an itinerary shaped around your interests.

Choose the experiences that interest you most. We check the walking involved, activity requirements and available departures before building your itinerary.

Enquire about primate tracking as part of a longer stay. Permits, age requirements, reporting location and availability need checking ahead of travel. Wildlife encounters are never guaranteed.
Ask about community experiences around Gisakura or Banda, including tea-related visits. The activity, host, access and any additional fees are confirmed before booking.
Activity reference: official Nyungwe visitor information ↗. Each activity is booked separately where applicable; choosing an itinerary does not automatically include every experience shown.
These are sample itineraries, not fixed packages. An overnight stay leaves more room for travel, rest and activities than trying to fit the forest into a rushed return journey from Kigali.
Day one: travel from Kigali, with stops agreed around the route and available time, then settle into your confirmed accommodation.
Day two: enjoy a pre-arranged canopy walk or another selected activity, then return to Kigali. Activity timing and the transfer schedule are agreed before booking.
Plan a two-day Nyungwe trip ↗Day one: transfer and overnight stay. Day two: choose a waterfall hike and a canopy or zipline experience where timing and suitability allow.
Day three: a further pre-arranged activity or relaxed departure, followed by the return journey. Primate tracking can be discussed as an alternative, subject to permits.
Plan a three-day forest itinerary ↗Combine forest activities with a lakeside stay on Lake Kivu. We can discuss the order of travel, number of nights and transport around your wider Rwanda plans.
It is also possible to discuss a cultural stop in Nyanza or Huye along your journey, with opening times and the travel schedule checked first.
Discuss a tailored itinerary ↗Forest trails can involve uneven ground, slopes and wet conditions. Share children’s ages, mobility needs and comfort with heights before we suggest a route. We will check current participation requirements with the activity provider.
Pack shoes with good grip, a rain layer, comfortable clothing and a warm layer. Bring the identification agreed for permits and protect your camera and phone from rain. Ask which equipment is supplied for your selected activity.
We coordinate pickup, drop-off, passenger and luggage requirements. Accommodation is selected around your budget, activity location and availability. Your final itinerary will show the property and number of nights.
There is no single price for every Nyungwe trip. Your dates, party size, visitor category, accommodation and selected activities determine the quotation.
Review the written itinerary and conditions first. An enquiry does not reserve a permit or confirm a booking. Weather, access and operating conditions may affect the final plan.
Read our booking and payment process ↗No. The canopy walkway is a suspended walking experience; the zipline is a separate adventure activity. We check each activity’s requirements, fees and availability for your chosen dates.
We can discuss both, but the route, walking pace, activity departures and available daylight determine whether they fit comfortably. An extra night can give your itinerary more flexibility.
Only when specifically listed in your quotation. Tracking permits and availability must be checked before confirming a primate itinerary. Sightings cannot be guaranteed.
